‘The Caretaker’s Cottage’ is a private dwelling designed specially for the ‘caretakers’ of the Matairangi site, who are responsible for maintaining and caring for this piece of land. Designed in response to the clients needs, this dwelling considers the clients strong connection to the land and very minimal, yet hard-working lifestyle.

The clients also run an online programme that encourages tourists, locals, youth groups, but primarily school children to come to the site of ‘Matairangi Learning Centre’ to learn the local environmental issues we deal with in Aotearoa. This is a hands-on programme that gets participating individuals outdoors to explore and learn tangibly in our natural environment. Predominantly targeting primary school children, this programme encourages tamariki to get into the outdoors and learn about Aotearoa’s native life hands-on, rather than in an interior space on modern technology.
