‘Urban Growth’ is an interactive spatial intervention aimed to create a safety distraction for users of the public. It encourages public members to stop and play, instead of jaywalking across the busy roads in Wellington CBD. This tactile public intervention, made from a variety of squishy textures inside coloured water balloons, captures the attention of public users while they wait for the green walking man to appear.

 

Generated through a wide range of material explorations, ‘Urban Growth’ creates public engagement and offers a distracting and captivating solution to stop individuals jaywalking. This tactile spatial intervention is suitable for all ages and provides users with a memorable, unique and quirky experience.
